Vision Beyond Borders: Creating Opportunities for Youth Through ARSECOD

by Eng Claudin Hermann Beauge

After more than 14 years of formal education and 5 years of university studies in civil engineering, my vision was clear: I wanted to create opportunities for young people in my country. My goal was not only to practice engineering but also to use my knowledge to build structures that would support communities and to provide meaningful work for youth who had limited prospects.

To achieve this vision, I founded ARSECOD (Services d’Architecture et de Construction Durable), an organization dedicated to sustainable architecture and construction. Through ARSECOD, I was able to employ more than 100 young people, offering them training, work, and the chance to build professional experience. This was more than employment it was empowerment, giving young people the tools to believe in themselves and contribute to society.

Despite the success of ARSECOD, the environment in Haiti became increasingly unstable. Political struggles, fueled by a culture of power and division, made it impossible for independent initiatives to thrive. Instead of supporting progress, instability pushed away those who were trying to bring solutions. Like many others, I was forced to leave a place I loved, not because of lack of will or vision, but because the political climate denied the possibility of growth.

Leaving Haiti did not end my mission. On the contrary, it strengthened my belief that knowledge and vision should be shared where they are most needed and most valued. I carried with me the same commitment: to build opportunities, to create solutions, and to empower youth wherever I am.

My story with ARSECOD is proof that even in difficult circumstances, it is possible to create impact. More than 100 young people had jobs, gained skills, and built hope for their futures. While instability forced me to continue my mission elsewhere, my vision remains the same: to use my expertise as an engineer and entrepreneur to contribute to society. Immigration, for me, does not about escape it is about carrying forward a vision of building opportunities and contributing wherever my knowledge and leadership are most needed.
