HAITI: WHEN IGNORANCE BECOMES A MAGISTERIUM…

by Amos Cincir

In CHINA, laws are passed to protect the truth.
No recognized degree? No microphone.
No expertise in Medicine, Law, Economics, Diplomacy, History, or Journalism? Then, silence.
Ignorance their costs €13,000 in fines and the immediate closure of your social media accounts.
A simple yet brutally effective logic: people speak only about what they actually know.

In HAITI, it’s quite the opposite.
Here, the less you know, the more you speak.
Improvisation has become a skill, and foolishness and vulgarity have turned into a form of art.
People reinvent themselves daily Economist, Theologian, Psychologist, Diplomat, Journalist, or Revolutionary depending on the trending topic or number of views.

Competence is no longer an asset it’s almost an insult.
People now prefer the charisma of emptiness to the discipline of knowledge.

On social media, Haitian influencers at home and abroad play the role of digital prophets.
Without rigor, without ethics, and without remorse, they throw out hollow phrases wrapped in misused quotes and crown themselves as the thinkers of the century, while their followers mistake eloquence for truth, gestures for genius, and popularity for depth.

Crowds no longer listen to understand they listen to belong, to pick sides, to protect their camp.
They applaud not what enlightens, but what flatters.
They confuse cognitive dissonance with critical thinking, and mental disorder with freedom of expression.

Discernment has gone into exile, lucidity has hung itself, and reason, tired of being mocked, took the first boat to oblivion.
Meanwhile, we keep worshiping babbling as an act of resistance.

Some rewrite history with TikTok clips and tweets;
others wage war against intelligence just to collect red hearts under their nonsense.

Some dare to summon our independence heroes between two Instagram filters;
others preach “revolution” from the comfort of a sponsored couch, pretending to awaken a people they themselves keep asleep through disinformation.

The result?
A country where foolishness is loud, reason is silent, and truth is inaudible.
A country where virality matters more than value, where volume replaces vision, and where ignorance parades as the ultimate diploma.

While China sanctions false knowledge,
we decorate lies.
We seat them on a throne, we praise them, and we call them: “Influencer.”

HAITI is not a country without light.
It is a country where too many candles believe they are the sun,
and where the glow of emptiness has replaced the clarity of knowledge.
