{"id":78079,"date":"2026-02-16T14:18:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T14:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/bing-adds-ai-visibility-reporting\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T07:46:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T07:46:24","slug":"bing-adds-ai-visibility-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/bing-adds-ai-visibility-reporting\/","title":{"rendered":"Bing Adds AI Visibility Reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Unlike traditional search engine optimization, AI search <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/better-metrics-for-ai-search-visibility\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lacks<\/a> native performance reporting to help businesses develop organic visibility strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s Search Console combines AI Overviews and organic listings in its \u201cPerformance\u201d section, leaving optimizers to guess which channel drove visibility and traffic. ChatGPT shares metrics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AISearchAnalytics\/comments\/1p2cta5\/what_chatgpt_is_monitoring_and_what_could_be_its\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">only with publishers<\/a> that have licensed their content to OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>Bing is the first platform to offer some transparency. A few weeks after publishing its \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/new-microsoft-retail-ai-guide-echoes-seo\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guide to AEO and GEO<\/a>,\u201d Bing launched an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com\/webmasters\/help\/9f8e7d6c\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">AI Performance Report<\/a>\u201d in Webmaster Tools.<\/p>\n<h3>AI Performance<\/h3>\n<p>The new report tracks citations in Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing, and select AI partner integrations. But there\u2019s no option to filter by a single surface, and no way to identify the integration partners or their purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The report shows users\u2019 \u201cTotal Citations\u201d for the chosen period and \u201cAvg. Cited Pages.\u201d It then lists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cGrounding Queries,\u201d which are \u201cthe key phrases the AI used when retrieving content that was cited in its answer.\u201d In other words, the queries are the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/seo-for-googles-ai-fan-out-results\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fan-out<\/a>\u201d terms that Bing\u2019s AI agents use to search for and find answers, though we don\u2019t know which search engines or platforms they access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cPages,\u201d the URLs mentioned in AI answers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_1560792\" style=\"width: 580px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1-Total-citations-e1771248392346.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-1560792\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new Webmaster Tools section lists citations by \u201cGrounding Queries\u201d and \u201cPages.\u201d <em>Click image to enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Each tab includes additional visibility data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For every Grounding Query, Webmaster Tools reports on the average number of unique pages cited per day in AI answers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>For each cited URL, the report includes its frequency \u2014 how often it appears in an answer \u2014 not its importance, ranking, or role within a response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The report provides no traffic or click-through data and no clarity into which Grounding Queries triggered which citations.<\/p>\n<h3>Using the Data<\/h3>\n<p>The report is a good first step, but it offers little actionable data.
