{"id":76890,"date":"2025-11-26T20:30:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T20:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/?p=76890"},"modified":"2025-11-26T20:30:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T20:30:08","slug":"kohls-ecommerce-grows-at-double-the-rate-of-total-q3-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/kohls-ecommerce-grows-at-double-the-rate-of-total-q3-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Kohl&#8217;s ecommerce grows at double the rate of total Q3 sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Kohl\u2019s Corp. said it achieved top- and bottom-line performance ahead of its expectations in its fiscal Q3, as ecommerce sales mitigated a decline in revenue.<\/p>\n<p>In its fiscal Q3, Kohl\u2019s reported a 2.8% year-over-year decrease in net sales while comparable sales declined 1.7%. Kohl\u2019s net sales in Q3 2025 reached about $3.41 billion, down from about $3.51 billion the prior year.<\/p>\n<p>For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Kohl\u2019s sales totaled $9.80 billion. That\u2019s about 4.2% less than the same time frame last year <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 $10.21 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Newly appointed permanent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalcommerce360.com\/2025\/11\/24\/kohls-new-permanent-ceo-michael-bender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEO Michael Bender<\/a> told investors on Kohl\u2019s Q3 earnings call that September was slow for the retailer. However, October was the strongest month of the quarter for Kohl\u2019s. Comparable sales increased 1% as Kohl\u2019s ecommerce sales grew 2% year over year in October, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kohl\u2019s is No. 25 in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalcommerce360.com\/product\/top-2000-ecommerce-database\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Top 2000<\/a>. The database ranks North America\u2019s largest online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales and more. Digital Commerce 360 projects Kohl\u2019s ecommerce sales to decline 17.7% year over year in 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>How Kohl\u2019s plans to turn sales around<\/h2>\n<p>Bender outlined three priorities Kohl\u2019s has been working toward in 2025:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Offering a curated, more balanced assortment that fulfills customers\u2019 needs.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cReestablishing Kohl\u2019s as a leader in value and quality.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Delivering an improved, omnichannel shopping experience across platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re focused on creating an elevated, more consistent experience across our store fleet and on our digital platforms,\u201d Bender said.<\/p>\n<p>Part of that comes from updating its store layout. But on the digital side, that also comes from applying artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to workflows, Bender said. Additionally, Kohl\u2019s has invested in expanding one of its \u201cnext-generation ecommerce fulfillment centers\u201d this year, according to chief financial officer Jill Timm.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Kohl\u2019s had named Arianne Parisi its new chief digital officer, tasking her with driving ecommerce sales through Kohls.com and the retailer\u2019s mobile app. And in August, it named Steven Dee its chief technology officer, \u201cresponsible for overseeing all technology and information platforms supporting Kohl\u2019s omnichannel business,\u201d the retailer said in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Kohl\u2019s ecommerce sales in Q3<\/h2>\n<p>In Q3, Kohl\u2019s ecommerce sales \u201coutperformed stores again,\u201d according to Timm. They increased 2.4% year over year.<\/p>\n<p>Timm attributed Kohl\u2019s ecommerce sales growth in Q3 to an increase in traffic throughout the quarter. Traffic during the period increased from high single digits in August to high teens in October, she said. That stemmed, in part, from an increase in transactions among Kohl\u2019s card customers.<\/p>\n<p>Bender added that Kohl\u2019s has seen a positive impact from including more brands to become coupon-eligible, including about 50 that are digitally native. He also said AI is helping to improve efficiency while elevating the customer experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI is helping our engineers work faster to complete site updates and enhance our app performance,\u201d Bender said. \u201cIn marketing, predictive AI is guiding media investments and personalizing offers and generative tools are helping creative teams produce content faster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that although Kohl\u2019s is still developing some of its technological initiatives, it has already seen an improvement in customer engagement. The retailer is \u201ctaking a disciplined approach to scaling these capabilities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Timm said she expects ecommerce sales to represent a larger portion of Kohl\u2019s business in its fiscal Q4.
