{"id":76250,"date":"2025-11-14T19:38:52","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T19:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/?p=76250"},"modified":"2025-11-14T19:38:52","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T19:38:52","slug":"walmart-announced-new-ceo-to-replace-doug-mcmillon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dralysstore.com\/blog\/walmart-announced-new-ceo-to-replace-doug-mcmillon\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart announced new CEO to replace Doug McMillon"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Walmart Inc. named a new CEO to take over the retailer\u2019s top leadership role in 2026 as current CEO Doug McMillon leaves a position he has held since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>McMillon will be succeeded as president and CEO by John Furner, who has served as the president and CEO of Walmart U.S. since 2014.\u00a0 The Bentonville, Arkansas-based company announced the transition following a decision by its board of directors, which also granted Furner a board seat, effective immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Walmart is No. 2 in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalcommerce360.com\/product\/top-2000-ecommerce-database\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"5f29b0538d5a4b9c628148bd\">Top 2000<\/a>. The database is Digital Commerce 360\u2019s ranking of North America\u2019s online retailers by their annual ecommerce sales.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Walmart is No. 8 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalcommerce360.com\/product\/online-marketplaces-database\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"5f29b0538d5a4b9c628148bd\">Global Online Marketplaces<\/a>. The elevated role marks the culmination of a rise that began in 1993, when he began working at Walmart as an hourly associate. He has held his current role overseeing Walmart U.S. since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohn Furner is the right leader to guide Walmart into our next chapter of growth and transformation,\u201d said Greg Penner, chairman at Walmart. \u201cAfter starting as an hourly associate and being with us for over 30 years in a variety of leadership roles across all three of our operating segments, John understands every dimension of our business \u2014 from the sales floor to global strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Penner praised Furner\u2019s accomplishments and framed him as the best candidate to succeed McMillon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has proven that he can deliver results while living our values,\u201d Penner stated. \u201cJohn\u2019s six-year leadership of our Walmart U.S. business during a time of rapid change, marked by digital acceleration and strong associate engagement, has positioned us for continued success.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Doug McMillon\u2019s departure as Walmart CEO<\/h2>\n<p>McMillon will effectively retire on Jan. 31, 2026. However, he is slated to stay on Walmart\u2019s board of directors until its next annual shareholders\u2019 meeting. He will also act as an advisor to Furner through Jan. 31, 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cServing as Walmart\u2019s CEO has been a great honor and I\u2019m thankful to our Board and the Walton family for the opportunity,\u201d McMillon said in a released statement. \u201cI\u2019m incredibly proud of what our associates accomplished and deeply grateful for their commitment to our customers, to each other and to the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McMillon called Furner \u201cuniquely capable of leading the company through this next AI-driven transformation,\u201d an area that McMillon has repeatedly emphasized.
