The Columbus location is roughly half the size of the retailer\u2019s other Wayfair stores.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As we scale our retail strategy, we are focused on both expansion and experimentation,&#8221; Liza Lefkowski, vice president of merchandising and stores at Wayfair, said in a statement. &#8220;Not only are we thrilled to open our first Ohio store, we are excited to see how customers respond to our efforts to provide a comprehensive home shopping experience in a smaller footprint.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Columbus store will feature a wide assortment of products across several departments, including furniture, housewares, appliances, mattresses and decor. The location will also include Wayfair Verified items that are evaluated and selected by the company\u2019s product specialists.<\/p>\n<p>The store will serve as a test to see \u201chow a smaller footprint can drive customer engagement and efficiency while maintaining inspiration and convenience,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>Wayfair has been steadily building out its brick-and-mortar footprint after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/benefiting-from-the-home-category-boom-wayfair-posts-45-revenue-increase\/595714\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moving away from the format<\/a> years ago. Last year, the company opened its first large-format store under its namesake banner just outside of Chicago. Additional locations have been announced since for Atlanta, Denver and Yonkers, New York.<\/p>\n<p>The move is part of a broader store expansion effort the company has initiated across its entire portfolio, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/wayfair-plots-3-new-stores-in-2022\/611087\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joss &amp; Main,\u00a0AllModern<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/perigold-wayfair-store-openings\/733182\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Perigold<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhysical retail is the natural progression of our brand as we evolve to meet our customers wherever they are on their shopping journey \u2014 from site or app to in-store through a seamless omnichannel experience,\u201d the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/wayfair-first-large-format-store-wilmette-illinois\/713992\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said last year<\/a>\u00a0ahead of its Chicago-area store opening.<\/p>\n<p>But the company\u2019s physical expansion comes as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/retail-home-sector-pandemic-impact-five-years-later\/742479\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">home category experiences softer demand<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/have-home-retailers-peaked\/599492\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pandemic highs<\/a>, and the broader retail industry faces macroeconomic headwinds, namely from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/3-ways-tariffs-are-impacting-retailers\/758864\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">evolving tariff policies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Wayfair CEO Niraj Shah, however, said the retailer hasn\u2019t seen any changes in consumer behavior due to tariffs despite several policies targeting the home sector.<\/p>\n<p>In its most recent quarter, the online home goods retailer reported Q3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/wayfair-ceo-consumer-behavior-tariffs-q3\/803991\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revenue grew 8.1% year over year <\/a>to $3.1 billion, while U.S. revenue grew 8.6%.
